Is CapstoneCore a teacher-led or a self-paced program?

CapstoneCore courses are designed to be self-paced so students move to a new lesson once they have demonstrated mastery of the current lesson. Teachers are an integral part of the model. They lead synchronous lessons and with the help of real-time course/assessment student data, can provide personalized instruction and support to students when and where they need it most.

What does CapstoneCore offer for Grades PreK-5?

At the PreK-5 level, CapstoneCore carefully sequences all English Language Arts and Mathematics lessons in accordance with the New Jersey Common Core State Standards. Doing so insures that CapstoneCore courses are reinforcing and supporting content that the student is currently studying in his/her classroom.
ELA: PreK-2 primarily focuses on reinforcing basic literacy skills including phonemic awareness, decoding skills, vocabulary building, foundational skill building for reading fluency and comprehension, and foundational skills of the writing process. Grades 3-5 lessons further develop and refine foundational skills with extensive practice and more rigorous content.
Mathematics: PreK-2 lessons reinforce and provide additional practice and skill building in the operations of addition and subtraction while Grades 3-5 lessons reinforce and provide additional practice and skill building in the operations of multiplication and division.

Due to the many variables, we cannot predict how long it will take your student to complete their work each day, but a typical student spends two to three hours a day on their schoolwork.

Students can enroll in the CapstoneCore Program simply by going to CapstoneCore.com and visiting the website. All instructions for enrollment are outlined including course offerings and how to select courses, how to enroll in online, independent study courses, how to purchase online tutored lessons, and lesson bundles and prices.
You simply need to click on the “Start Now” button on any page and follow the steps. There is a how-to video.

What do I get with CapstoneCore Course Subscription?

With the personalized LMS, all students have the flexibility to access the online courses that they are enrolled in at all times, from any location where there is an internet connection. These courses include a course syllabus, an e-book, tutorials and lessons, activities within lessons to check for understanding, self-check formative assessments, videos, writing and research assignments, and summative assessments.
With a CapstoneCore Subscription, students can also purchase lesson bundles that include live, online tutoring sessions with highly qualified, certified teachers. Through digital learning and flexible scheduling, tutoring sessions can be scheduled from any location and at the times that best meet the demanding schedules of today’s busy students.

Are there textbooks or additional materials required?

Some of the courses do require the purchase of an additional lab manual or book. Many of the science courses in the various curricula require some household items or items easily obtained to conduct simple science experiments.

Can a homeschool student take the ACT or SAT and how do I register to take them?

Can I get high school credit for taking CapstoneCore courses?

Yes, students can take CapstoneCore courses for high school credit. By partnering with accredited school districts throughout the state of New Jersey, CapstoneCore is able to offer the same sequence of required core courses, by grade level, along with multiple elective courses that meet the requirements for graduation. Upon successful completion of the courses and approval by the partnering District’s Board of Education, credit is awarded.

Does CapstoneCore issue a transcript?

CapstoneCore, as a homeschool curriculum provider, has no authority to issue a transcript. The homeschool parent has the sole authority and responsibility for documenting their student’s homeschool academic progress and accomplishments. CapstoneCore has a free online service that enables homeschool families to track classes and generate report cards and transcripts. Whether transcripts necessary to college admission or report cards helpful in required reporting, documentation is an important part of the homeschool experience. CapstoneCore’s Academic Information Management system allows parents to create an account into which they can enter classes their students have taken along with the corresponding grades. The service will calculate GPA and cumulative credits. From this data, reports such as report cards and transcripts can be generated.

Is CapstoneCore accredited?

CapstoneCore is a subsidiary company of Edu-Link Consulting Corp. and Edu-Link Consulting Corps is a MSA (Middle State Association) accredited as a LSP (Learning Sevice Provider). MSA LSP Corporation Accreditation ensures we meet the highest standards in educational management. Being accredited with MSA and having established partnerships with several New Jersey public school districts, CapstoneCore is able to provide, through the school district, course credit and academic transcripts to the student who successfully completes courses in accordance with the school district’s requirements.

Are CapstoneCore courses available in other countries as well as the USA?

Since CapstoneCore courses are taught digital through a personalized LMS, we can bring our courses to students across the country as well as around the world. In addition to offering courses throughout the USA, CapstoneCore course are available in countries throughout South and East Asia.

I don’t live in New Jersey; can I still have tutor?

Yes. Since CapstoneCore provides online platforms and classrooms, you can work with a CapstoneCore tutor no matter where you live.

How quickly can you find a tutor for me?

We have Academic Advisors standing by, ready to schedule your tutoring session(s). As soon as you notify us that you are in need of a tutor, an Academic Advisor will reach out to you via email requesting specific information needed to schedule the session. Once you have provided that information (course name, area of difficulty, day and time available for tutoring, etc.), the Academic Advisor will work to schedule your session(s) as quickly as possible. You will be notified as soon as the session(s) is/are scheduled.

Can I choose my tutor?

Yes, you can choose your tutor. Once you have notified us that you are in need of a tutor, the Academic Advisor will reach out to you. At that time, indicate if you would like to choose a tutor or have one assigned. If you would like to choose a tutor, you will then read through the biographies of the tutors, make your selection based upon whom will best meet your needs, and give the name of that tutor to the Academic Advisor.

Are CapstoneCore tutors highly qualified?

All CapstoneCore tutors are highly qualified and hold state certification in the content areas they are tutoring.

Are tutors available at weekends?

Yes. Most tutors are available from early morning to late night including Saturday, Sunday, and holidays.

Can I have a trial session with a CapstoneCore tutor?

If you register with a 6-month subscription to take courses with CapstoneCore, we will provide 1 free lesson with a tutor. If you register with a 1-year subscription, we will provide 2 free lessons with a tutor.

Will my tutors come to my house?

No. CapstoneCore tutoring is an online service. You will know the date and time of your session and you simply logon at that time. Through a shared screen and audio, you will see, hear, and interact 1:1 with your tutor online. All instruction is modeled and interactive through the use of a digital tablet and smart pen connected to the shared screen of the computer being used by the tutor. All files including charts, graphs, diagrams, written assignments, and assessments are shared. Finally, you will receive a recording of the session enabling you to go back to the lesson for review or clarification should you need to follow-up once the session has ended

I am not happy with my tutor, what should I do?

It is very important for us to hear your feedback relative to our CapstoneCore services and tutoring. Please let us know immediately if you are not happy with your tutor and provide details of your concerns. CapstoneCore will discuss all concerns with the tutors so as to assure our services are of the highest quality. CapstoneCore will be happy to arrange an alternative tutor as soon as possible.
